Connect your Eyes to your phone

With the dawn of the internet of everything this days, it is no surprise that even tiny devices can be connected to your phone. Engineers from the University of Washington developed a new communication technology called Interscatter communication that can connect your contact lens to your smartphone. The Interscatter Communication works by converting a Bluetooth signal into a Wi-Fi signal. The technology is based on an existing method of communication called backscatter. In backscatter, the devices exchange information by reflecting back already existing signals. The interscatter communication works the same way but it allows inter-technology communication -- for example, bluetooth can be connected to Wi-Fi. The Interscatter technology allows small devices such as contact lenses to send data to other devices which was not possible before since sending data through Wi-Fi requires higher power. With this technology, medical devices such as contact lenses and brain implants will be able to send information to a smartphone. For example, blood sugar levels from a person's tears can be monitored and can send notifications on that person's phone or it could transmit data from a brain implants that could help people with paralysis regain movement.
