Scientists from Harvard have developed a robotic exosuit that uses less energy than previous wearable exosuits. Published in Science Robotics, it has the highest reduction in energy expenditure produced for an exosuit that uses cable wires.Exosuits consumes a lot of energy when used or tested, but the newly developed exosuit significantly reduces the amount of energy needed while walking. This kind of application has many different uses, from aiding soldiers to helping crippled people to walk again. In a test done with seven different healthy wearers, this device shows that there is more assistance provided to the ankle joints and also there is a twenty three percent less energy expenditure made over a long distance covered. Also, they have managed to create more flexible and stretchy fabric for the calves of the wearer. Like a normal exosuit, it lessens the work from the hip to the muscles of ankles.Though this device is costly, it may still help people with certain disablities to improve their recovery or help lessen the work for different activities.Want to know more about this awesome device?
