Ferroelectret Nanogenerator or FENG

Ferroelectret Nanogenerator or FENG

Have you ever heard an electronic newspaper that listens to your voice command and the read news for you while generating energy when you swipe on it? With the new technology developed by the researchers from Michigan State University (MSU) talking newspapers might become possible."It's a device that you can roll up and put in your pocket and then get somewhere and unroll and put it on a screen or a window or any platform and use it as a both a microphone and loudspeaker," said Nelson Sepulveda, a Michigan State University professor of electrical and computer engineering. The device named as Ferroelectret Nanogenerator or simply known as FENG is composed of very thin layers of silver, polyimide and polypropylene ferroelectret. Moreover, ions are added so that each layer in the device contains charged particles. This device acts as a microphone and loudspeaker, picking up vibrations in the air which known as sound waves and converting them into electric energy. It can also generate energy from human motion, such as swiping a finger across a screen.Want to know more about this awesome device? Follow this link!
